In The Beginning  ..........

 

In 1965 Ann Baker bred the very first litter of 4 Ragdoll kittens  with Daddy Warbucks and Buckwheat. Two of those kittens were a male seal point named Raggedy Ann Kyoto and a female CHOCOLATE point named Raggedy Ann Tiki.

We believe that the chocolate gene has been passed down through the generations from Raggedy Ann Tiki and is still present in some Ragdolls born today.

 

 

The Controversy today ..........

 

We have been following the controversy surrounding the opinions over whether or not we can breed chocolate and lilac Ragdolls from pure traditional only lines with avid interest over recent times.

 

Many are of the opinion that it can’t be done.

 

Many are of the opinion that if the chocolate gene is not coming from a parent or a grandparent that it will not come from further back.

 

Many tell us that there are NO genuine pure traditional chocolate and lilac Ragdolls.

 

We are of the opinion that it can be done and now that we have the magic key of DNA testing it will be relatively simple to identify the cats that can actually produce those colours from pure traditional Ragdolls..

We know that it is indeed very possible to breed chocolate Ragdolls from completely pure Ragdoll lines as we are actually lucky enough to own 2 boys that are indeed chocolate carriers from traditional only lines.This has been verified by a DNA test for the chocolate gene which proves that they do indeed carry chocolate.Their lines have been investigated,checked and checked again and there are NO cats from any "outcross" breeding programmes in their pedigrees.They are 100% Ragdoll only and they carry chocolate.

 

Our objective ..........

 

What a wonderful gift it would be to all Ragdoll Breeders and lovers if we can resurrect the absolutely true and genuine chocolate and lilac Ragdolls. How exciting to establish a breeding colony of them in Australia. We are well on our way with our "HeirloomRags" Breeding Programme and we are looking forward to introducing our HeirloomRags kittens to the show benches of Australia very soon.
